Clinical Sport Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship Position Announcement

The University of Southern California Student Counseling Services is pleased to announce a Postdoctoral Psychology Internship open for August 2017. The position is specifically to provide services to the university’s student athletes.

The post doctoral fellowship is the result of a joint collaboration between the USC Student Counseling Service and the Athletic Department. The responsibilities include providing individual psychotherapy, assessments, outreach, crisis intervention, performance enhancement, and groups for USC student athletes. The post doc will work under the supervision of a California licensed psychologists with a specialty in clinical and sport psychology and extensive experience working with student athletes at an NCAA Division I University with 21 teams and approximately 600 student athletes.

Applicants must have a Doctorate in Counseling or Clinical psychology from an APA-accredited program and have preferably completed an accredited APA-predoctoral internship. Experience in working with individuals from diverse backgrounds is essential. Experience as a college athlete would be helpful, but not necessary. Organizational skills, follow through, and ability to work independently in a responsible manner are all essential to this position. A good understanding of boundaries and professional ethics is a must. Completion of dissertation strongly recommended prior to commencement of position.

The position is 12 months, full-time. Salary is currently budgeted at approximately $35,000 and includes health benefits, sick time, paid vacation, professional days and $650 dollar stipend for professional development.
