Understanding Insurance & Waivers
As a USC Student you are required to carry health insurance. USC offers the USC Student Health Insurance Plan as an option, or if you already have a comprehensive insurance plan that is approved by the university, you may choose to use that one. Visit the main Insurance page to learn more.
If you are a domestic student enrolled in 6 units or more, or if you are an international student or Health Science Campus student enrolled in any number of units, you are automatically enrolled in the USC Student Health Insurance Plan. If you are a student carrying 6 units or less, you may also choose to enroll before the Spring 2015 semester January 30 deadline. Visit the main Insurance Enrollment page to learn more.
If you already have a comprehensive health insurance plan, you may choose to waive or “opt out” of the USC Student Health Insurance Plan. You only need to request a waiver once a year in the Fall. Visit the main Waiving Coverage page for more information.
