Alcohol Safety Tips!

Have you ever had a little too much to drink and find yourself feeling the worst? Have you every muttered the words I’m never drinking again? Have you ever had to pull back a friend’s hair while they throw everything back up?

A fun night of drinking with friends can quickly turn into a series of bad decisions if you aren’t careful about your choices and your actions. Making the right choices becomes even harder when you’re under the influence of alcohol.

Following these tips can go a long way to make sure you stay safe while having fun!

  1. Stay hydrated. Alcohol seriously dehydrates you. Make sure you’re drinking enough water while you’re drinking alcohol. Some ways to do that is to alternate an alcoholic drink and a cup of water or sipping on water while you work on your drink at the same time.
  2. Go with a trusted group of friends. That way, you can all look out for each other and make sure no one is left in a compromising position!
  3. Don’t leave your drinks unattended and don’t accept drinks from strangers. The reason behind this is pretty obvious … you never know what someone else can put in your drink while you’re not there.
  4. Charge your phone. Your phone is a useful tool that can help you be in contact with your friends or grab a Fryft/Lyft home. It’s so much harder for your friends to reach you or for you to get help if your phone died. Make sure you charge your phone before you go out or carry a portable charger.
  5. Eat before you drink. Drinking on an empty stomach is a recipe for disaster. The calories you consume before drinking will help you absorb the alcohol.
  6. Minimize the chugging and the shots. Take your time! Sip!
  7. Don’t drink and drive. Just don’t…
  8. Drink at home! Or if you’re drinking at a friend’s place, choose to sleepover. That way, you don’t have to worry about getting yourself home. You can go straight to bed when the night is over.
  9. Have a plan at the beginning of the night. Set a limit of drinks for yourself and stick to that limit. You can keep track of the number of drinks you’ve had by snapping a pic every time you get a new drink or collecting bottle caps. This way, you won’t go overboard whether it is due to bad decisions or peer pressure.
  10. Don’t go in the water. Your balance and coordination is impaired when you drink, so it’s a better idea to stay out of a pool or the ocean.
